November 30, 2009 – With SAS, Concept Capital offers new, hosted portfolio analytics and risk management portal to the hedge fund market
CLOSE
CARY, NC (Nov. 30, 2009) – Risk management remains a hot topic for all financial services firms. Introduction of more stringent requirements, especially in the
investment management industry, calls for hedge funds to access more powerful analytics to effectively measure portfolio risk, typically a difficult task with
significant fixed costs. To meet this market need, Concept Capital, an institutional broker and total solutions provider to the investment management industry,
has partnered with SAS, the leader in business analytics software and services. As a result of the collaboration, Concept Capital will offer a full suite of
analytics that will provide integrated, multicustodial risk and performance reporting to investment managers, family offices and investors by providing simple
yet powerful portfolio analytics and risk intelligence. With SAS risk management software, Concept Capital will significantly expand the capabilities of its
flagship product, CONCEPTONE™, to bring a unique product to the marketplace.
“We believe there is a huge opportunity to bring an integrated solution to the market that will combine portfolio analytics and advanced risk management
capabilities to the investment management and hedge fund space,” said Michael Rosen, Managing Director at Concept Capital. “This solution will give investors
increased confidence in receiving risk reports that will be produced by an independent third party using industry-leading software from SAS.”
Added Dan Connell, Project Manager at Concept Capital, who will be driving the initiative, “With the heightened requirements on risk reporting, security
pricing and portfolio transparency that are now pervasive in the industry, it is critical that hedge fund managers have access to the necessary tools.
By teaming with SAS, a leader in risk management software, CONCEPTONE will be meeting this demand.”
With SAS, Concept Capital will offer a hosted portfolio analytics and risk management portal to the hedge fund market. The solution includes a client Web
portal with access to customized risk reports and interactive analytics that will permit a multitude of views – including value at risk (VaR),
factor analysis, customized stress testing, profit and loss (P&L) time-series analysis, performance attribution and measurement, and production of ex-post
risk indicators coupled with more traditional portfolio appraisal reports – all on a multicustodial basis.
“With SAS, CONCEPTONE will be able to deliver a high level of auditable risk intelligence to clients that are now a requirement in today’s market,” said
David Wallace, Global Financial Services Marketing Manager for SAS. “Hedge fund managers will now be able to move beyond ‘black box’ analytics to have
fine-grained control of their risk analysis. Through this partnership with Concept Capital, SAS continues to help reshape the capital markets’ risk practices
in achieving a strong and stable recovery.”
SAS risk management software has garnered many accolades this past year. In November, SAS was ranked the top company in Chartis Research’s RiskTech100TM.
SAS placed in the Leaders quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Operational Risk Management Software for Financial Services by Gartner Inc. in September.
Also, in July 2009, Chartis ranked SAS as the leader in its Credit Risk Management Systems 2009 report for the third straight year; and for a fifth straight
year, SAS was first in Chartis Research’s Operational Risk Management Systems 2009 report in June.

CLOSE
New York, NY – February 9, 2009 – Concept Capital, a leading institutional broker and total solutions provider for global investment managers, today announced the firm has expanded into Fixed Income Sales and Trading and has appointed former Credit Suisse Executive, Allen Oppici as Director of Fixed Income Sales and Trading.
In his new role, Mr. Oppici will oversee the launch and growth of Concept Capital’s Fixed Income business. Mr. Oppici brings more than 20 years of experience in the securities industry to Concept Capital, including 13 years at DLJ and Credit Suisse, where he served as Director of Fixed Income Trading.
Mr. Oppici plans to aggressively grow Concept Capital’s Fixed Income business, which includes the hiring of several sales members for the firm’s trading desk in the first quarter of 2009. Additional hires are anticipated this year as the firm’s Fixed Income business expands.
Concept Capital is launching its Fixed Income desk while many larger firms have reduced their operations across the board. In addition, institutional concern over counterparty risk associated with larger firms has created significant demand for independent brokerage services.
“In the last year, we’ve seen buyside firms shift a significant portion of their business to independent brokers as concerns over counterparty risk have increased and banks continue to reduce services,” said Robert E. Moore, Managing Director of Capital Markets at Concept Capital. “This has been a tremendous opportunity for Concept to grow by offering a broader range of services to our clients. There is growing buyside demand for Fixed Income Sales and Trading services, and we are extremely fortunate to have someone as experienced as Allen join Concept to launch this business.”

January 20, 2008 – Former Citigroup Trading Executive Joins Concept Capital to Head Firm’s Institutional Trading and Research Business Growth
CLOSE
New York, NY – January 20, 2008 - Concept Capital, a leading institutional broker and total solutions provider for global investment managers, today announced the appointment of former Citigroup executive and industry trading veteran, Robert E. Moore, as Managing Director and head of the firm’s global institutional trading and research business.
In his new role at Concept Capital, Mr. Moore will oversee the strategic expansion of the firm’s institutional sales and trading business. Concept is planning to triple the size of its institutional sales and trading team during 2009. This strategic move comes as recent historic volatility in the US capital markets has led investors to seek out experienced sales traders to provide a service-oriented execution for their orders. With the hire of Mr. Moore, Concept Capital is reaffirming its commitment to providing clients with industry leading advanced trading solutions and a premiere execution consulting service for global equities.
Mr. Moore brings more that 30 years of experience in the securities industry to Concept Capital, including 21 years at Citigroup Global Markets. At Citigroup, Mr. Moore held several senior positions, including Head of US equities responsible for sales, trading, and capital markets. Mr. Moore also served as head of Global Technology at Citigroup Global Equity Division, where he was responsible for all electronic equity platforms.
“We are proud to have attracted an executive of Bob’s caliber; his extensive experience in managing both global trading businesses and technology platforms will be critical to Concept’s expansion in 2009 and beyond,” said Michael S. Rosen, Managing Director at Concept Capital. “The securities industry is undergoing significant change with investors looking to combine a traditional, service oriented approach to trading with more robust, streamlined trading systems. That demand provides Concept with the perfect opportunity to grow our institutional business by attracting talented and seasoned professionals who will provide our customers the highest level of service.”
